She planned to finish the story when Hikaru becomes "A Cheerful, Working Adult." She hasn't reached this point. The story is incomplete, and the last two english volumes should be published in english this year.
The thing is, I was particularly attached to this series, and I really wanted to see how Hikaru becomes a grown up! I don't know how much of this is revealed in volume 7, but the general consensus is that it's incomplete, and it seems that it will take place in high school, since 6 is set in 'junior high'. Though, I don't understand the term (I'm scottish) or how it relates to the japaneese schooling system, but isn't junior high near the beginning of your teenage years?
This is the second time, within the last year, I've found out that an artist I admire has died, leaving a comic unfinished.

yes, "Junior High" is "Middle School", between Elementary and High School. Assuming that the school system consist of 12 grades, The students in 6(sometimes 5) to 8th grades attend that type of school so yes, young teens.

Of course, it's normal for the countries to have different systems. They are mandateed by the governments.
5 years olders attends kindergarden grade, and then 6 years old in 1st grade. 17 years old is in 12th grade. We do have private preschool options for 4 years old children.
