A drawing of Jade, from the game "Beyond Good and Evil", sitting on the edge of a rock, contemplating. This image contains a few firsts for me, the head angle, first decent pair of drawn lips (when I try to draw actual lips, I tend to make them look pouty). Also, this is more of my watercolour pencil work. And yes, I DID sketch it in purple.
She was meant to look mildly happy at first, but I had an in-depth discussion with someone about how she looked kinda sad, and I told her about how the game was based in war time and the deeply moving scenes in the games. I won't spoil the game, but given the standards of voice acting in games in general, the fact that a single speech can be so good as to be featured on the official sound track (which was released by the creators FOR FREE! Google it) speaks volumes for the story, I think.
So... spoilers. While I intended for this to be based before the game, with Jade just smiling and thinking of the kids, probably. But it transformed into one, still after the end of the game, and thinking of the bad things that she, and everyone, had to suffer to get to that point, and the future, which is probably going to be a harsh one.
Funny how a slight difference can change everything.
I intended to have woof in the background, but he ended up looking like a child drew him no matter what he did.
