My half of a Peryton themed art trade with

Peryton's are winged deer that cast the shadow of a person, until they kill a human. After that they are unable to kill another human for their entire life. The desire to cast their own shadow is great.
At first my idea was a sort of competition between a Peryton and another mythical beast for a chance to kill a human, but I got a bit dubious about that because 1: It's a Peryton themed trade and 2: I couldn't think of another mythical beast that would have as great a need to kill a human as a Peryton would and 3: it's really hard to draw a threatening looking Peryton. So it evolved into a caged animal in a circus type thing.
The colour scheme is because I automatically thought of the Fire Nation in Avatar: The Last Airbender once I settled on the trapped in a circus. Particularly their treatment of Appa. Though it makes more sense for them to use a cage than this get up here. Ah well.
Done with watercolour pencils. The Peryton's horns are purple because I bought a pencil that I thought was dark brown, only for it to be purple, and the bar is blue because I couldn't think of anything better. It's contrast to draw the eye to the Peryton. Also, the Peryton's body somehow ended up being quite thick, I'll just say he needs a lot of muscle and lung capacity to fly.
